Merit Medical Announces Ask for Merit Program and Product Demonstrations for CIRSE 2019 Congress

Merit will feature its best in class educational learning program and four hands-on sessions organized by CIRSE

Maastricht, ND – 7 September, 2019 – Merit Medical Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:MMSI), a leading manufacturer and marketer of proprietary disposable devices used primarily in cardiology, announces education initiatives, activities and product demonstrations for the Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiological Society of Europe (CIRSE) Congress being held in Barcelona, Spain, 7-11 September.

Through its Ask For Merit program, the company will sponsor a variety of learning opportunities during the CIRSE meeting and in addition, will feature four in-depth sessions focused on varicose veins, radiofrequency tumour ablation, vertebral augmentation, and embolics – celebrating 10 years of PAE and the launch of EmboCube, providing attendees an in-depth overview of some of the company’s latest innovations.

“At Merit, we are heavily focused on education and collaboration to help drive the industry forward and provide better patient outcomes. This is why CIRSE Congress presents a perfect opportunity for us to not just showcase our company and products, but to invite attendees to discover Merit – our people, products, programs, and services at a very high and hands-on level. It is through these programs that we can share knowledge, experiences and interactions and apply these learnings towards our research and innovation to continually improve our offerings,” said Fred P. Lampropoulos, Chairman and CEO of Merit.

Merit’s products will feature prominently during these hands-on sessions organized by CIRSE. Sessions will be held on varicose veins (Sunday, September 8th), tumour ablation (Monday, September 9th), embolisation and vertebral augmentation (Tuesday, September 10th) – please see the CIRSE session overview for more information on timings and locations.

Specifically, geniculate artery embolisation, a minimally invasive procedure performed in roughly an hour under local anaesthesia, has become a key treatment for knee osteoarthritis patients where conservative therapy has failed, and will be a core focus for Merit’s CIRSE presence this year.
In addition to this, there will also be an opportunity for attendees to experience hands-on demonstrations for Merit’s Surfacer, ClariVein, EmboCube, and Biopsy products on its stand:
– Surfacer® is a proprietary Inside-Out® system to restore access and preserve options
– ClariVein® OC is an innovative device designed for the infusion of physician specified agents in the peripheral vasculature, including for endovascular occlusion of incompetent veins in patients with superficial venous reflux.
– EmboCube™ is uniformly cut gelatin foam cubes pre-loaded into a Medallion® syringe, allowing for faster preparation and accurate delivery
– CorVocet™ Biopsy System is designed to cut a full core of tissue, providing large specimens for pathological examination.

Educating clinicians remains a prominent focus for Merit. During the CIRSE Congress, Merit will also host Meet the Experts, a series of expert presentations at the Merit Learning Centre, booth #58. Available spaces are limited, for more information and to register, please visit merit.com/CIRSE2019 or visit the Merit booth.
