At Merit Medical, our priority is to save lives, and we strive to go above and beyond in delivering innovative medical devices while generating momentum toward meeting our sustainability goals. We’re proud to announce the release of our 2023 Sustainability Report, marking the third year of progress toward our 2030 Operational Sustainability Goals.
Let’s take a look at some of the highlights from our report.
Our Approach to Sustainability
As a global leader of healthcare technology, we play a significant role in contributing to a sustainable future. We’re driven by a desire to make a difference in the world, so we recognize our sustainability priorities are critical to our success and our relationship with stakeholders. We understand the long-term health of our customers, patients, team, and communities relies on a more sustainable, healthier, and equitable world.
We work to implement this vision at every level of our business. By investing in employee education, every member of our team drives our mission. Our efforts are directed by the Merit Medical Board of Directors, our Governance and Sustainability Committee, and our Corporate Sustainability Council. All three organizations work together to help hold our company accountable as we progress toward our goals.
Our 2030 Goals

Caring for the Planet—the Merit Way
We care about being responsible and minimizing the long-term impact we may have on future generations. That’s why we’ve implemented the following strategies:
REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE
We’re continuing advancing our Merit Smart Shipping™ initiative, which reduces unnecessary packaging associated with our products. During 2023, we recorded savings of approximately 146,000 pounds of materials! We also utilize reusable totes and pallets wherever possible, while recycling corrugated materials, plastics, metals, and more.
GOING DIGITAL TO GO GREEN
Our eWorq program has significantly reduced paper use. Transitioning to a digital system for work orders saved over 2.5 million sheets of paper in 2023.
WELLNESS STARTS HERE
In addition to providing trainings and resources to help our team stay safe at work, we also prioritize physical and mental health. By offering opportunities like monthly wellness talks, on-site health clinics at our largest facilities, and free dietitian-designed Healthy Choice meals at Merit Salt Lake, we help Team Merit be the best they can be.
RISKS AND OPPORTUNITIES
We prioritize the health and safety of our team and our healthcare partners, so we actively monitor climate-related risks and opportunities to ensure we operate in a safe, sustainable manner. This also helps us to make smart, sensible, and relevant financial decisions, benefiting our shareholders.
GIVING BACK
Philanthropy is a major part of Merit’s mission to improve lives, both globally and locally. We partner with various nonprofit organizations around the world to provide financial contributions, product donations, and volunteer time—all to foster stronger communities.
As we continue to grow as a company, we stay true to our mission of putting the heart in healthcare, and that starts by prioritizing people. From our tireless team to our investors, stakeholders, healthcare partners, and patients, we’re proud to keep the momentum rolling—together.
