Since Merit Medical’s inception more than three decades ago, we have transformed from a US-based startup in Utah into a medical device powerhouse with facilities around the globe. Recently, we celebrated a proud moment for two of our locations. Merit Galway in Ireland and Merit Tijuana in Mexico both reached the 1,000-employee mark, a milestone that demonstrates expansion of our manufacturing capabilities and our growing capacity to meet customer needs.
“To be able to reach this goal of a thousand employees is an extraordinary accomplishment, especially if you go back and look at the beginning,” said Fred Lampropoulos, Merit Medical’s Chairman and CEO.
Merit Galway specializes in the design and manufacture of cardiology and peripheral-based access devices, navigation systems, and procedural kits. The facility’s strong reputation within the industry was recently recognized when it was honored as Medtech Company of the Year at the Irish Medtech Awards 2018. Thanks to a number of personal and professional development opportunities—such as improvement projects, a graduate program, well-being programs, and a social club—Merit Galway employees are able to grow with the company.

The Tijuana facility is one of Merit’s manufacturing sites worldwide and produces a wide range of product lines, including drainage solutions, sheath introducers, disposal systems, and more. A team known for its dedication, hard work, and attention to detail, Merit Tijuana was the recipient of the prestigious Shingo Prize for Operational Excellence in 2019. Merit Tijuana employees are able to expand professionally through company-provided individual development plans and in-school certificate programs. They are also provided with unique benefits, such as transportation service to and from work and lunch at the facility’s award-winning café.
