Course to educate surgeons and radiologists on advanced applications of wire-free localization technology for biopsy, neoadjuvant therapy and oncoplasty surgery
SOUTH JORDAN, Utah, March19, 2019 — Merit Medical announced today the inaugural THINK WIRE-FREE™ education course will be held on March 29-30, 2019 at Merit Medical’s Educational Center, Salt Lake City, UT.
THINK WIRE-FREE is an educational course for radiologists and surgeons who are looking to implement or expand an advanced wire-free breast tumor localization program at their facility or healthcare system.
Wire-free breast tumor localization is quickly becoming standard of care for achieving optimal clinical results while at the same time offering women a better experience—from biopsy to surgery. For surgeons and radiologists, wire-free tumor localization provides an efficient workflow. During the THINK WIRE-FREE education course, surgeons and radiologists will learn more about SCOUT® Radar Breast Localization System, an innovative wire-free tumor localization technology.
Proctors Dr. Barry Rosen, Chairman of the Department of Surgery at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center and Medical Director of the Breast Center at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital, Chicago, IL and Mary K. Hayes, MD, board certified radiologist specializing in Women’s Imaging and Chief of Women’s Imaging at Memorial Health Centers, will lead the discussions and hands-on training during this inaugural course.
Surgeons and radiologists will learn about the capabilities of SCOUT’s unique radar technology and have an opportunity to practice reflector implantation and procedure steps. In addition, they will explore how the SCOUT Radar System is advancing wire-free tumor localization for use in breast conserving surgery for oncoplastic procedures, prior to neoadjuvant therapy, for localizing lymph nodes and for placement at biopsy.
